New Hopes Pines is a Wisconsin State Natural Area. Located just to the east of Rosholt in eastern Portage County, it is the largest northern dry-mesic forest remaining in central Wisconsin. These types of forests occur on irregular glacial topography which is very typical in this are. The vast forests found in the region prior to settlement have been logged with a precious few undisturbed tracts remaining.
